Respite Nights

We offer local foster, adoptive, and kinship families regular Respite Nights in three counties in the DMV area.

During a Respite Night, we provide three hours of free childcare with fun activities, including outside time (weather permitting), dinner, and a movie in a safe, fun, trauma-informed space. Respite Nights are for ANY & ALL CHILDREN (ages 0-12) in the home of local foster, adoptive, and kinship families.

A few things to know:

*This night is for any and all of your children (adoptive, foster, biological, etc) ages 0-12.

*We want your children to get the kind of attention and care they need from our amazing childcare team and therefore have a strict 1:2 volunteer-to-child ratio policy. Because of this, registration is required and spots are limited.

*Please fill out any behaviors and needs of your children that we need to be aware of - it’s important for our volunteers to be equipped to care for the specific needs of your child.

*If registration is full, you will be directed to fill out our Waitlist - please fill this out as last minute cancellations often occur and we want to serve as many families as possible!

*We understand that things come up and you may not be able to attend at the last minute, we ask that you let us know ASAP so that we can offer your spot to another family on our waitlist. Please e-mail us at tricia.jewell@fosterthefamily.org with any changes to your registration.
